Image splitter for printing

Create a full-size tiled poster PDF for A4 or Letter. Set physical dimensions, inspect every page, and check print scale.

Your photo, prepared your way.

Choose an image to start, or explore the included sample. Images are processed in this browser tab.

How to use it

  1. Choose an image and your printer paper size.
  2. Set the poster width or height in centimeters or inches. The other dimension stays proportional.
  3. Choose a safe printer margin and a duplicated overlap for assembly.
  4. Download the PDF and print a test page at Actual Size / 100%.
  5. Measure the one-inch ruler, then trim and join pages using the assembly map.

Every PDF page has the exact A4 or Letter media box. Image scale is defined in PDF points, where 72 points equal one inch. Printer drivers can still change the physical result, so a measured test print is essential.

Questions, answered

Why is my printed poster smaller than the target?

Your PDF viewer or printer may be fitting the page to its printable area. Select Actual Size or 100% and disable Fit, Shrink and Scale. Measure the one-inch check before printing the rest.

What does overlap do?

Adjacent pages repeat an image strip of the selected width. Trim one strip and place the repeated areas over each other. It makes alignment easier without changing the final poster dimensions.

Are transparent images supported?

Yes. Transparent pixels are flattened to white in the printable PDF. Static PNG, JPEG and WebP are supported.

How large can the poster be?

Each side is limited to 300 cm and the layout to 64 pages. The source is reduced proportionally to at most 4096 pixels per side for bounded PDF export. The resolution indicator estimates printed detail.

Check poster size before using ink

Decide physical size before tiling

Width and height follow the original ratio. A4 and Letter specify sheet size, while the poster dimension specifies the assembled image. Overlap repeats edge strips; it does not enlarge the assembled poster.

Measure a calibration page

Print the separate scale-check PDF using the same paper and driver settings. Its square is one inch per side and its long line is 100 mm. If either differs, correct scaling before printing the poster.
